Patrick Smith

Patrick Smith is one of the most inventive realist artists since Chuck Close. He resides in Lexington, Kentucky, and has gained recognition for his finely honed painting skills and an uncanny ability to capture idiosyncratic portraits of intimate moments. Smith creates artistic impressions of his close friends in revealing and dynamic contexts. This New Jersey-born artist significantly influences the Lexington avant-garde art scene and will someday extend his voice into national and international art conversation.

Smith creates challenging artistic impressions of his close personal friends in revealing and impassioned contexts. His work is unparalleled in today’s art landscape.

Patrick Smith continues to innovate and challenge patrons and viewing audience to reconcile his interpretative portraits. This recent collection of 14 paintings (acrylic on paper) is being presented at Fine Art Editions on Jefferson Street in Lexington. It will remain in the gallery till mid-August 2024.

John S. Hockensmith

John S. Hockensmith’s Shadows Under the Big Top is a collection of artistic compositions from Circus Flora, a one-ring sawdust circus located in Saint Louis. Hockensmith’s color canvases acknowledge subconscious states of the imagination, viewed through the artist’s peripheral vision. This black and white portfolio contrasts the literal compositions that often accompany circus performers, while employing imaginative perspectives and rich concepts of the sublime.

John Stephen Hockensmith is one of the premier equine photographers in the United States.  Born in 1954 in Cynthiana, Kentucky, Hockensmith took up photography at an early age and later studied art and photography at nearby Georgetown College. He began his professional career in 1975, working for the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a photographer, and four years later, started the independent photography business in Georgetown known today as Fine Art Editions Gallery & Press.

Hockensmith has worked as a photographer for the Kentucky State Government, Georgetown College, Churchill Downs, Keeneland, and Al Khayal Magazine. Corporate clients include Toyota, Lexmark, The Kentucky Horse Park, and Universal Studios.
